Rick Santorum: College is for "snobs"

Growing up as a child of the 70s-80s, the value of an education was drilled into my skull by my parents-- particularly my mother, who was spent over 20 years as a teacher in the classroom. My brother and I weren't given much of a choice in the matter, when it came to focusing on our education. Well, that's not true-- our folks did give us an option..."go to college, go into the military, or FIND A JOB...but know that without an education, you'll NEVER have a good job!"

Now, I think that there were two reasons why education was strictly enforced by my parents. The first, being that my mother is an educator, but secondly because my parents understood that being black in America meant that no one (meaning "white folks") expects much from blacks by way of intellectual achievement, and in order to do well in life, we would have to FLY to where a white person merely had to walk, or crawl. In other words, "good" wasn't good enough. We had to be EXCEPTIONAL in order to be taken seriously. That was the value of an education.

So as someone that has always been taught the importance of a higher education, you can imagine the slack-jawed reaction I had to Rick Santorum when last week he said that the idea that President Obama wanting to provide an easier path to a college education is nothing short of snobbery...SNOBBERY, and indoctrination...!!!!

Well, I am ONE snob that has no problem saying that Rick Santorum is an idiot in the highest order! The times are truly changing, when a candidate for the President of the United States scoffs at the idea of getting a college education as some sort of elitism-- which somehow, in Santorum's ass-backward universe, connects to a lack of values and anti-Americanism. It is shocking that an elected official is actually campaigning against America's grown, evolution, and development. The VERY THING that is going to save this country from extinction-- and he's railing against it! That says nothing for the mindless zombies that were applauding him-- really? I mean, they used to get on black folks because they thought we were stupid. Now we have a black man in the White House that's smarter than most of those folks, and now they want to shit on him for it.

Look, I've been in situations where my noggin has brought about eye-rolling and resentment-- words like "arrogant" and "uppity" have been used, which-- to an educated black man-- are spite-filled white-washed substitutions for "nigger"-- especially that "U-word". Paul Mooney, and my parents, and almost every elder black man and woman I've ever known, has always said to me that "Nothing scares/annoys white folks more than an intelligent black man." In more general terms, I think nothing horrifies politicians more than an intelligent electorate.

All you have to do is listen to what people like Rick Santorum or Mitt Romney or Newt Gingrich are saying to realize that they think (and hope) that people are too dumb, lazy, or disinterested to do research. As long as the American people are more interested in fantasy football and American Idol, the politicians know that they can basically say whatever they want without the fear of their audience investigating their claims. If you like Newt Gingrich, you'll believe that Obama sanctioned infanticide. If you like Mitt Romney, you'll believe that corporations are people. And if you believe Rick Santorum...then, you'll believe that education is something the shit on, and disregard as some hoity-toity luxury that only snobs, jerks, elitists and communists indulge in.

This is what the President said today to the National Governors Association on this education issue:

“I have to make a point here: when I speak about higher education, we’re not just talking about a four-year degree...We’re talking about somebody going to a community college and getting trained for that manufacturing job that now is requiring somebody walking through the door handling a million dollar piece of equipment. And they can’t go in there unless they’ve got some basic training beyond what they received in high school,” Obama told the governors. “We all want American getting those jobs of the future, so we’re going to have to make sure they’re getting the education they need.”
Nothing helps Republicans more than an uneducated populace. That's why things like religion and guns and immigration and gays and affirmative action and education snobs are good ammo for the GOP-- they know they can go to the dummies with all of these ridiculous talking points, and they'll be believed!

Smarten up, America. I know you hate Obama, but your candidates don't think too much of you. at your own peril.

White Teen Girls v. Black People

Wow-- it's been 2 months since I've written anything on my blog, and the two stories I get to post are about bigots! The previous post focused more on bigotry by way of religion. This time, it's two stupid little girls putting their upbringing on display.

Two stupid little 14 year-old girls from Gainesville, FL have been ostracized by their community for posting a 14 minute video of an anti-black people rant. You may or may not get through the whole thing-- it depends on how much you value your braincells:

Now, I'm not going to attack little girls for saying stupid things. It's pretty damn funny to hear a couple of inarticulate kids criticize others for not speaking clearly, or making any sense, or for even being dumb. I grew up with white folks, and while many of them were not particularly racist...they were still fairly ignorant, small-minded, and emotionally immature. Which is, after all, what you SHOULD expect from a 14 year old. I listen to these two, and just laugh. I have, quite literally, heard everything that has come out of their mouths before-- and the one take-away I get from this video is: white bigots are STILL using the same idiotic talking points that they've always used! In other words, stupidity is a vacuum.

So guess what happened to these two girls? You guessed it. Death threats. TONS of them. So many, in fact, that they-- according to their parents-- were completely stunned by the backlash, and are now trying to apologize for what they said.  Which is funny, to me, because they aren't really sorry for what they said....they're sorry that they have NO SUPPORT. Same with politicians that say incredibly stupid things-- they try to walk it back and/or give half-assed apologies, ONLY because the general public displays their outrage.

In addition to the death threats, the two girls have been expelled from the school.

"There's no place for comments like that, that video here at GHS," GHS principle David Shelnutt told WCJB-TV. "There's no place for that in the Alachua County Public School System, and my opinion, no place for that in society in general."
Racism/bigotry and technology don't always mix. Especially if you post your hateful views in a public forum. No matter how negative or nasty you can be...there are literally THOUSANDS, if not MILLIONS of people that will eat your soul for breakfast. So express your ignorance at your own peril. Next time, you may not be as lucky as these girls are.

Asshole of God

"Religion is excellent stuff for keeping common people quiet. Religion is what keeps the poor from murdering the rich.”
                                                                                                      ― Napoleon Bonaparte

...where was I...OH YES!

You know, I've never been a fan of religion. Ever since I was a kid, sitting in the church pew with my grandmother every now and then, I couldn't help but think that I would much rather be playing with GI*Joes and Transformers, than listen to some dude talk about God and Jesus. As an adult, I am even more disinterested. I should say, though, that my true problem is not with religion itself. My BIGGEST problem is with the people that use religion as a manipulative tool.

Look, believe what you want-- I really don't care. But keep it to yourself. It should be a private thing-- not to be trotted out in the world and used to push ideology. Very few things piss me off more than some jerk-off using "God" and "Jesus" as an excuse to bash homosexuals or women or race. How cowardly is that-- to hide behind some mythical being (The "so-called" Creator), saying that "He" is the one that believes these things...and since "He" believes it, we have no choice but to believe it ourselves! I say BULLSHIT on that.

We've all heard the ridiculous nonsense that pours out of Rick Santorum's mouth. That sweater-vested lunatic has said some OUTLANDISH shit about women, blacks, and gays-- all the while hiding behind his stupid, make-believe, invisible friend. I have to say, if his idea of God is shitting on women's health, reducing homosexuals to 2nd class citizens, and portraying black folks as helpless welfare me, that God is a fucking idiot.

That is an idiot God that, supposedly, also questions President Obama's "true" faith. Santorum is one of these self-righteous idiots that says to his supporters that Obama follows a "false theology"-- but to the media says "I meant ideology". He's the kind of asshole that, on the campaign trail, says Obama is NOT a real Christian, and is waging war on religion...but on the Sunday Morning political shows, says "Well, if Obama SAYS he's a Christian, then he's a Christian." Passive-aggressive. Cowardly. That kind of bullshit makes me wanna strangle that prick with his own sweater vest.

Speaking of fucking idiots, Franklin Graham was on MSNBC's Morning Joe this morning. Here's another one of God's assholes that pushes this line that Obama is not a "real" Christian. But again, he's passive-aggressive about it-- saying that he can't say whether or not another man is a Christian. And then when he's asked about Rick Santorum...guess what he says?

Can you believe this guy? This asshole-- this "I am holier than thou" fuck-tard had the sagging, grey balls to sit there and call Obama a non-Christian, while boosting Santorum as some high-religious man! Look, it's clear what's going on here.

It's nothing but good, ol' fashioned old white American male xenophobia. I mean, seriously-- Obama's values are not as "holy" as Santorums? What about YOUR values, Franklin-- as you sit in judgement of the darkie president with that Muslim name! How is protecting the rights of citizens, increasing funding to education programs, making sure the wealthiest American's pay their share-- how is ANY OF THAT antithetical to the teachings of Christ? It's not. You know what is? Bigotry. Disenfranchisement. Economic oppression. When you support the modern-day GOP, that is what you are defending. THAT is what you claim are good, Christian values. In which case, I say "FUCK CHRISTIANS".

I get very angry about people like this. It makes me more and more thankful that I am not weak-minded enough to seek guidance from douche bags like Graham, and his ilk. Since people like that are so keen to push their religious crap on people, I would like to push back:

Keep your fantasy-land bullshit beliefs to yourself! I care about your intolerant, ignorant "god", OR your willingness to follow "him". When you open your mouth, you sound uneducated and out-of-touch. You are brainless, mindless fools, wasting time and energy (mostly the rest of ours!).

Go to hell (or wherever you dummies go).
