R.I.P. Clarence Clemons, Dead at 69

...what a bummer, man.

I actually got to meet the E Street Band almost two years ago when they performed "The River" at Madison Square Garden. While my friends and I were back stage waiting to be escorted to our seats, Mr. Clemons right by us on his golf cart, all decked out like a purple pimp-mobile. Everyone cheered his name and clapped as he rode by. That was one of the most memorable moments I had from that night. It's hard to believe that he's gone.

For some reason, when I found out that he had the stroke which ultimately lead to his death, I thought of this song-- which I haven't heard since I was a kid:

Remember this, old folks? This was back when Jackson Browne and Darryl Hanna were married. Good times (well, not for Darryl...allegedly).

Naturally, he is better known as one of the founding members of The E-Street Band. Not only did I have the chance to see them live, but Palladia is constantly playing Springsteen concerts (which my lady is loving). It's hard to imagine seeing them perform without Clarence.

R.I.P. Mr. Clemons. Maybe you could connect with my dad up there-- he always loved singing, you know...
