Dead Pez

A bummer for all of us candy lovers. In 1955, Curtis Allina, as president of US operations for Pez Candy, an Austrian company, had a wild idea. He would take what was at the time an adult candy, and with the simple addition of a plastic dispenser, converted Pez into a kids candy. The rest, as they say, is history.

Mr. Allina died on the 15th of December at the age of 87.

It's amazing how a man that has impacted the lives of so many, dies so quietly. What's even more amazing is that his legacy will live on for generations and generations-- I'm sure my daughter will be buying Pez dispenser for her grandchildren. I'm sure he had no idea that with some candy and a little piece of plastic, he would find immortality.
